Bringing Davines hair education, creative colour and advanced cutting techniques to Combers Inside-Out Hairdressing.
Every so often, we invite someone from a leading London salon to come down to Taunton and spend the day with our team. We call it our Global Education Day. This year's was our ninth, and one of the most inspiring yet.
At Combers Inside-Out Hairdressing in Taunton, continued professional education plays an important role in helping our Hair Professionals develop their skills and bring fresh ideas to our guests.
How It Came About
Our Director and Artistic Lead, Cameron Willetts, recently spent time in Italy working with Tom Connell, the creative force behind Davines hair identity.
While he was there, Cameron arranged for Davines' lead Art Director in the UK, Lee Belcher, to visit Combers Inside-Out and work with our team in person.
We're proud of our partnership with Davines, and this was a chance to learn directly from the people who shape its creative direction.
Who Joined Us
Lee Belcher brings a London hairdressing background that includes working alongside Michael John, Nicky Clarke and Trevor Sorbie, three names that mean a great deal to anyone who loves hair.
Having someone with that experience in our own salon was a real privilege. Lee understands what it takes to create work at the highest level in London and, just as importantly, how to make those techniques practical, wearable and personal in a working salon.
For our Hair Professionals in Taunton, it was an opportunity to learn from an established industry educator without leaving Somerset.
The Day: Davines Colour, Cutting and Styling Education
The day centred on Tom Connell's latest collection, a set of five looks designed to be commercial and salon-friendly.
The collection explores blonde colour, short haircuts and texture, encouraging Hair Professionals to use each look as inspiration for their own work.
Suitable for different levels of qualified Hair Professionals, the education showcases Davines hair identity while developing colour, cutting and styling skills together.
Lee took the team through each look step by step.
The team worked with the newest colours in the Davines portfolio, exploring their versatility and creativity, from soft, luminous blondes to richer, more dimensional tones.
Cutting and styling were built into every stage, showing how colour, shape and finish work together to create a complete look rather than three separate services.
Our Hair Professionals didn't just watch. They worked through the looks themselves, practising techniques, discussing how they work on different hair types and exploring how to adapt them for the guests they see every day.
Time was spent on precision short haircuts, building and refining texture, and creating beautiful blondes with depth and softness.
The team also discussed how to translate each look into a real consultation, keeping the creative idea while making sure it suits the person in the chair.
Throughout the day, the emphasis was on bringing everything back to salon life. Every look was designed to be adaptable, so our guests can enjoy something fresh without it feeling out of reach.
