At Combers Inside-Out Hairdressing in Taunton, we’re excited to introduce our new comprehensive recycling policy, a vital step toward reducing our environmental footprint. We know that many of you share our concern for the planet, and we believe that, together, we can make a real difference.
To achieve this, we are introducing a small, yet impactful, green levy of £1.20 to each salon appointment. This contribution will support our efforts in making your favourite hairdressing services more sustainable.
Why We’re Asking for Your Support
We understand that any additional charge can be a sensitive issue, and we want to be transparent and upfront about our reasons for implementing this 'green levy'. The hairdressing industry has long been a contributor to environmental waste, with a significant amount of salon byproducts traditionally ending up in landfills. By supporting our recycling initiative, you’re not just investing in a great hairstyle—you’re also helping to protect our planet.
Should you wish to opt-out of this green levy, we fully respect your decision. Simply let our reception know before paying, and there will be no judgment whatsoever.
Our Comprehensive Salon Recycling Programme
We are proud to announce that Combers Inside-Out now has a full green solution for recycling the waste generated in our salon. The following items are part of our recycling program:
Hair: Collected and repurposed for various uses, including oil absorption in waterways, composting, and even wig-making if the hair is long enough.
Used Foils and Aluminium: These materials are infinitely recyclable and will never see a landfill.
Empty Colour Tubes: Recycled to reduce waste and environmental impact.
Chemicals and PPE: Safely processed and disposed of, ensuring minimal harm to the environment.
Plastics, Paper, and Bottles: All recyclable items are sorted and processed to reduce waste.
General Waste: Anything that cannot be recycled is used to generate energy, further avoiding landfill.

For example, aluminium foil, commonly used in hair colouring, can be recycled an infinite number of times, but unfortunately, it often ends up in landfills.
