Taunton hairdresser Wins Tribe Selection
Nick Martin from Combers hair salon has won a coveted place on the prestigious Redken Talent Tribe Team 2013.
The initiative run by leading American Hair care brand, Redken 5th Avenue, Is designed to inspire, educate and enhance the professional careers of talented up and coming hairdressers from Redken salons. Redken’s Talent Tribe auditions for 2013 attracted 979 entries from hairdressers across the UK so Nick was naturally delighted to have been selected in the 8 strong team. He said, “I entered because I thought the experience would be good for me. You just don’t think that things like this can happen to someone in Taunton. I would like to thank everyone at Combers for their encouragement and support, it inspired me to do well”
Judged by an esteem panel of hairdressing experts including TV’s 10 years younger hairdresser, Andrew Barton, and Celebrity hairdresser lee Stafford, finalists had to go through three stages of competition culminating in a short presentation demonstrating their ability to create and communicate an inspirational look on a model.
Director of Combers, Taunton’s leading hair salon, Simon Willetts explained that “ Education has always been a big part of our Culture, the skills of our people is what we sell so they have to be the best. This means that whilst NVQ level 2, maybe level 3 if they’re ambitious is what most salons settle for, at Combers this is just the starting position.” He went on to say, “ This will be a wonderful opportunity, not just for Nick but the whole team as he brings back and shares his new skills”
The Redken Talent Tribe program is a 1 year development opportunity and is a mixture of
education and unique hairdressing opportunities. During the program, led by some of the hairdressing industry’s biggest names, students are coached in presentation skills, the latest catwalk looks, cut and colour techniques and the latest Redken trends.
