CELEBRATING THE BEST OF BRITISH HAIRDRESSING

The good and the great of best of British hairdressing came together for the glittering Fellowship Luncheon & Hair Awards this week, December 5th 2022, celebrating and recognising the best of creativity and business acumen in British hairdressing.  Held at The Londoner in the heart of London’s Leicester Square, some 400 industry greats, peers and ones to watch came together for a three-course lunch followed by special Hair Awards to celebrate the creativity and successes of its membership, including the presentation of the Fellowship’s highest accolade, Fellowship Hairdresser of the Year.

Hosted by President Robert Eaton and Chancellor Karoliina Saunders, Robert Eaton said: “It was an honour to become your President. Whatever you decide to do with your career and whichever path you decide to take, the Fellowship will be there to support you.”

A special thanks went to the Project leaders for 2021-2022 who have inspired their teams during the most challenging times the industry has faced – ClubStar Art Team leader Karoliina Saunders, Project Colour leader Paul Dennison, Project X leader Sam Burnett and leaders of the F.A.M.E. Team Gary Hooker and Michael Young.

Cameron Willetts from Combers Inside-Out Hairdressing Taunton, Somerset, was awarded Project X, Best British hairdresser Achiever of the Year. He was presented with his prestigious Gong by Fellowship Project X leader, Sam Burnett, @hare&bone, who said, “It’s been an absolute pleasure working with Cameron Willetts and watching him grow from strength to strength over the year. What a talent he is, bringing his A Game every single time. With talented hairstylists such as Cameron breaking through, the future of British Hairdressing is in safe hands………A standout winner and one to watch!”

Cameron responded saying, “ I have enjoyed working with the Project X team in London under the mentorship of Sam. I appreciate what a privilege it is the be chosen by the Fellowship, out of 100’s of applicants to make it to the team in the first place. You are my hairdressing hero’s. It is my ambition to continue to work with the Fellowship and to help sustain the reputation you have all worked so hard to build. You inspire, educate, and lead the fashion trends for hairdressers from all over the World and I am honoured to be in the same room. I would also like to say a special thanks to Sam for his hands on accessible approach to teaching, his unquestionable knowledge and of course for this award. As you can see I am so very happy right now”

Asked what Cameron’s plans were for 2023, he said, “I applied to Join the new Sassoon team that the Fellowship announced for 2023 and have just learnt that I have been selected. Am I allowed to announce that, sorry? So 2023 will be exiting, eventful and challenging as I continue my journey and education…..I am particularly thrilled with this one because I believe that if the foundation and major influencer of modern hairdressing can be summed up in two words it would be…Vidal Sassoon”
